MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES


Watercolor pad or block, size 14 x 20” to 18 x 24”, cold press 140 lb. or rough surface 140 lb.
(Arches, Canson, Strathmore or other good quality watercolor paper)
Drawing pad, 9” x 12” or 11” x 14” (Mead Academie, Canson Biggie Jr.)

Soft drawing pencils: 2B, 4B, 6B
Black Pentel felt tip pen (Sign Pen comes in cellophane bag)
(Note: limited quantity of black Pentel Sign pens are available from instructor)
Black drawing ink (Sumi, Pelikan, etc.)

RECOMMENDED BRUSHES:
Robert Simmons “Goliath” watercolor brush, No. 26, 30, or 36 round
(Note: limited quantity of discounted Goliath brushes are available in class / avoid paying retail!)
Round brush for ink (No. 10 or 12 watercolor or inexpensive Chinese ink brush)

ANY FORM OF GOOD QUALITY WATERCOLOR MEDIA
cakes: (Prang, etc.) or
tubes: (Graham, Da Vinci, Malmeri Blu, Winsor & Newton, Grumbacher, Niji,, Guitar, etc.) or
liquid watercolors: (Dr. Ph. Martin, Winsor & Newton, FW acrylic links, etc.)

NOTE: AVOID STUDENT GRADE PAINTS, WHICH DO NOT CONTAIN SUFFICIENT PIGMENT.
(Cotman and Reeves watercolors are not recommended)

Suggested Colors:
Cadmium Yellow Light (Lemon), Vermillion or Cadmium. Red Light, Cadmium Red Medium, Alizarin, Violet, Cerulean, Manganese or Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine or Prussian Blue, Indigo, Viridian or Thalo Green, Emerald or Sap Green, Yellow Green, Payne’s Gray

Palette (Robert E. Wood or any large rectangular with deep wells and cover)
Water container (plastic ice bucket, plastic milk jug, etc.)
Absorbent cotton rag and / or paper towels
