MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES
18 x 24” Newsprint Pad
Dark Brown & Black Felt Tip Pentel Pens
Dark Brown & Black Tombow Pen (brush tip on one end and fine felt tip on other end)
Books or personal photos of landscapes to be used as reference material
Each student works at own pace, starting first painting at different weeks. After a selection of contour drawings have been accomplished, the one best combining right brain principles with the elements of composition and your self-expression is projected on canvas for painting.
Please DO NOT purchase the following supplies in advance.
The following will be discussed in class.
Large disposable paper palettes and Masterson Palette Seal for oils (12-1/2 x 16-12”)
Palette Knife for mixing
Soft rags (NOT heavy toweling)
Small – Medium jars (for painting mediums)
Brushes: Sizes #2 - #6 (primarily 4 and 6 long bristle oil brushes)
1 Round Brush that comes to a point to define shape or tight areas
Mediums: Liquin oil painting medium
“Turpenoid” is an odorless but expensive medium
Brush cleaning jar
Brush cleaning soap
PAINTS: Recommend OIL but may use acrylic.
COLORS: White: Titanium White or “Permalba” (a large tube only), Unbleached Titanium
Yellow: Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow and Ochre (optional)
Red: Cadmium Red OR Scarlet Lake (Vermillion, Magenta, Alizarin
Crimson - optional)
Violet: Dioxazine Purple, Cobalt Violet Light (reddish)
Blue: Cerulean, Cobalt, Ultramarine
Green: Permanent Green bright, Phthalo Green
Other: Payne’s Grey (or Black), Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna
